THE OPEN-AIR MUSEUM OF LITHUANIA, located on the picturesque shores of Kaunas Lagoon in Rumšiškės, was established in 1966 and is one of the largest open-air museums in Europe covering an area of 195 ha. The museum aims to showcase the ethnographic regions of Lithuania, including Dzūkija (Dainava), Aukštaitija (Highlands), Suvalkija (Sudovia), Žemaitija (Samogitia), and Lithuania Minor, as they appeared during the late 18th century and the first half of the 20th century. The museum's exhibitions feature a vast collection of over 25,000 exhibits, organized into individual collections and chronological exhibitions, including weapons, traditional clothing, photographs, documents, and other objects.
